In einem Schloss zu wohnen (und obendrein einen Mörder zu fangen)
Ihr Lieben,
statt Rumjammern über viel Arbeit und wenig Zeit gibt's heute endlich noch mal das, was der eigentliche Sinn dieser Seite und dieses Blogs ist: Fotos! Und da bin ich Euch noch jede Menge schuldig, waren die Beste Freundin von Allen und ich doch am Wochenende 19. bis 21. Januar im Parkhotel Schloss Anholt in Isselburg (westliches Münsterland, ca. 20 Minuten entfernt von Bocholt). Grund war zum einen das dort stattfindende Krimidinner (über das ich bereits hier ein klein wenig gesprochen hatte) und die ausgedehnten Feierlichkeiten zu unserem 30-jährigen Ziemlich-beste-Freunde-Jubiläum.
Außerdem wollten wir uns mal wieder fotografisch betätigen und gleichzeitig den Verzicht auf jegliche Automatik an der Spiegelreflex üben. Manuelles Fotografieren. Falls es einfach klingen sollte... ist es nicht! Aber hier war die richtige Umgebung und genug Zeit, sich endlich mit diesem Thema zu befassen.
Das Ergebnis ist zwar einerseits besser als gedacht, bzw. mussten weniger Fotos entsorgt werden als befürchtet. Von „Können“ würde ich trotzdem mal nicht sprechen.
Keine Sorge, ich werde Euch nicht (okay, kaum…) mit technischem Firlefanz langweilen. Ihr schaut Euch einfach nur die Bilder an, von diesem schönen Wochenende in einem schönen Wasserschloss im Münsterland. Im besten Fall mögt Ihr sie auch ein wenig. Viel Spaß beim Ansehen.
To Live In A Castle (and catching a murderer on top of that)
Enough with bitching and whining about too much work and not enough time. Today I would like to go back to what this page and blog is all about: photos! The other day it dawned on me that I have never posted the photos of our wonderful weekend at the Parkhotel "Schloss Anholt" in Isselburg, where we stayed for the Murder Mystery Dinner / 30th Friendship Anniversary weekend.
We also took the opportunity to train our photo skills by dropping whatever automatic mode is there and going completely manual. Which is the hardest part of using an SLR. But we were at a perfect location and it was the perfect time for some training.
The results were better than expected… less photos than I thought went into the trash. However, that doesn’t mean we already know what we are doing. Far from it. Still rookies, no question. But it was fun trying things out and learning some basics from our online photo class.
Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with technical and nerdy details (at least not too much…). You guys just please (hopefully) enjoy the photos.
Eigentlich ein Foto für die Tonne. Und doch habe ich es behalten. Einfach quasi blind in die Sonne rein fotografiert, was den Schmutz auf Sensor und Objektiv leider schön zur Geltung bringt (die man natürlich in der Bearbeitung entfernen kann, wenn man denn möchte). Aber es lässt auch die Sonne so schön wie einen Stern aussehen (das ist nicht das Ergebnis von Nachbearbeitung!) und außerdem gibt's diese tollen "Blendenflecken" (diese bunten Flecken in der Mitte). Typisch für Gegenlichtaufnahmen, für einige ein Makel, aber ich finde, das sind sie das überhaupt nicht und ich LIEBE sie! Trotzdem... das Foto ist natürlich alles andere als perfekt.
Normally this would be a photo for the trash bin. But I kept it. I made it more or less blindly by holding the camera right into the sunlight (which, unfortunately brings out all the dirt on the sensor/the lens). But also, the sun looks so perfectly like a star (no editing done here). And lens flares! Whoever thinks that lens flares are a flaw doesn't know a thing. I love them! Still... of course, that pic is everything but perfect.

Nein, dies hier gehört nicht zur Burg. Wir befinden uns im kleinen Ort Anholt (der Stadtteil von Isselburg, wo die Burg ist). Zwei Häuser. Eins dem Verfall überlassen, das andere erstrahlt in fröhlichem Pink. Stärker kann der Kontrast kaum sein.
No, obviously, this is not part of the castle. We are here in the small town of Anholt (the quarter of Isselburg, where the castle is located). Two houses. One is left to decay, the other shines in cheerful pink. The contrast can hardly be stronger.

Diese beiden Fotos oben und unten wurden in der Hauptsache gemacht, um manuelle Einstellungen zu testen und dabei mit Schärfe/Unschärfe zu spielen.

Graffiti? Nein. Da hat jemand seine Zeichenkünste auf einem völlig verschmutzen, eigentlich weißen Auto verewigt (zumindest bis zur nächsten Autowäsche).

Nachfolgend gibt's ein Windmühlen-Doppel. Gleiches Foto - zwei Ausführungen. Eines war im Originalfoto immer gleich: der völlig farblose Himmel.
Next up, a windmill double. Same photo, two edits. One thing was always the same: the boring grey sky.
Da wo Lightroom ist, ist ein leicht blauer Himmel nicht so fern. Der Profi hätte hier ganz andere Dinge gezaubert. Aber grau-blau ist allemal besser als nur grau..
Where there is Lightroom, a light blue sky isn't far away. Ok, the pro would have created something else here. But grey-blue is better than just grey nothingness, I think.
Gleiches Foto, andere Stimmung. Ein wenig... düsterer. Auch hier hätte der Profi schon fast etwas Unheimliches draus zaubern können. Aber auch meine Minimalbearbeitung ist immer noch besser als das triste Einerlei des Originalfotos.
Same photo, different atmosphere. A bit more... dramatic. Again, the pro could have created something really sinister here. But even with my minimalist editing it's still better than the This is better than the dreary monotony of the original.

Okay, soviel zu den Kamera-Fotos. Es gibt aber auch noch einige iPhone Bilder die ich Euch nicht vorenthalten wollte. Die Zimmer im Hotel sind übrigens thematisch individuell eingerichtet. Nr. 47 war das "Teehäuschen".
