Kann sich das jemand von Euch vorstellen? Einhundertsechs Mal Geburtstag zu feiern? Und ich meine jetzt nicht, im Laufe Eures Lebens auf 106 Geburtstagsfeten zu gehen. Ich meine, den eigenen Geburtstag so oft zu begehen. Eigentlich unvorstellbar. Aber diese wunderbare, einzigartige, liebenswerte Dame auf diesem Foto hat genau das geschafft.
Sie ist die Oma der Besten Freundin von Allen und sie hat heute das einhundertsechste Wiegenfest gefeiert. Und nicht nur das. Offiziell ist sie jetzt die älteste Einwohnerin der Stadt Velbert. Eine kleine Berühmtheit also. Es kamen viele Gratulanten mit vielen Blumen und anderen Geschenken. Es gab Kuchen. Und es gab eine neue Stehlampe fürs Wohnzimmer. Die alte hatte nach gefühlten 50 Jahren die Kabel gestreckt.
Das Schönste was ich heute erlebt habe, war der freudige Ausruf "oh wie schön", als die Lampe zum ersten Mal erstrahlte. Das war zum selbst Pipi-in-die-Augen bekommen herzerwärmend. Pure Freude. Das beste Geschenk überhaupt.
Das mit dem Sehen und dem Hören wird langsam schwierig. Man muss sie fast anschreien. Und man muss nahe herangehen, dass sie einen erkennt. Aber der Kopf ist immer noch ganz helle, und so manche 80-Jährige wäre froh, wenn sie noch so fit wäre. "Aber die Beine machen nicht mehr so mit", würde sie jetzt sagen. Geschenkt. Sowas sage ich schon, und bin gerade mal halb so alt...

Can you imagine? Celebrating birthday one hundred and six times? I'm not talking about going to one hundred and six birthday parties in your life. I'm talking about your own birthday. Quite unfathomable, right? Well... this one-of-a-kind, cute and lovely Lady in the pic, the Granny of The Best Friend of All, did exactly that today: celebrating her 106th birthday. But that's not all. She's now officially the oldest citizen of the City of Velbert. She's basically a bit of a celebrity now.
Many came to congratulate. She got lots of flowers and other presents. There was cake. And a new floor lamp for her living room. The old one had died just recently after what feels like fifty years.
The best thing I've experienced today though, was the PURE JOY when that new lamp was switched on for the first time. "Oh how beautiful!". And it came straight from her heart and she was in awe and it must have been one of the best presents she's ever got. That's the impression, everyone in the room had. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
Eye-sight and hearing ability are getting worse. You have yell at her and you have to get rather close so that she recognizes you. But her brain is still sharp and some 80 year olds might be green with envy about how fit she still is. "But my legs are not working as they used to", she would say now. Oh Granny... I can say the same about my legs and I'm only half your age ;-)
