... ist nicht nur klar im Vorteil, sondern vermeidet auch unnötige Fahrten durch den dicksten Berufsverkehr. Nun kann ich ja lesen, aber man sollte es auch gründlich tun.

Aber von vorne.

Ich hatte ja berichtet, dass ich eine neue Brille bestellt habe. Außerdem neue Gläser für mein jetziges, leider aber nicht mehr ganz funktionstüchtiges weil reparaturbedürftiges Gestell.

Erreichte mich heute die E-Mail des Optikers mit er Nachricht, dass "... die Brille mit der Auftragsnummer xyz in der Filiale zur Abholung bereit..." liegt. Ich prüfe also nicht die Auftragsnummer (es gibt derer zwei) sondern lese nur "Brille" und "Abholung". Kurz vorher hatte ich noch geflucht angesichts des nervigen Zustands den eine nicht korrekt sitzende Brille verursacht. Da kam mir die Mail wie gerufen. SO gerufen, dass ich früher Feierabend machte und losdüste.

In der Filiale in Mülheim angekommen, meinte die gute Dame, dass lediglich die Gläser für mein derzeitiges Gestell angekommen wären.

Dass in der E-Mail hier ganz verallgemeinernd von "Brille" gesprochen wurde... kann man es mir übelnehmen, dass ich nicht weiter nachgeforscht habe?

Vielleicht. Immerhin war die Auftragsnummer angegeben. Ich hätte ja mal nachsehen können.

Egal. Also jetzt auf nächste Woche hoffen. Zum Glück ist morgen der letzte Arbeitstag für diese Woche und ich muss nicht mehr 8 Stunden auf einen Monitor starren. Wahrlich kein Vergnügen derzeit.

Liebe Leute: falls Ihr Brillenträger(innen) seid und keine Ersatzbrille habt: BESORGT EUCH EINE! Ich lerne gerade auf die unangenehme Art, was es bedeutet, wenn man keine hat und der Notfall eintritt.

And not only do they have clear advantage, they also avoid dealing with crazy traffic during rush hour in vain. Now, of course I CAN read. But it's not enough. You have to read correctly and thoroughly.

But let's start at the beginning.

I had told you a while ago that I had to order new glasses (more precisely: two sets of lenses and one frame - thank you Jinjer ;-) ). Today I got an email from the optician, telling me that my glasses, order number xyz, were ready for pickup. They used the German word "Brille" which was for me a clear sign that it was the set that included the frame.

I was so relieved about that message that I didn't even check the order number. The word "Brille" was for me the indicator that it was indeed the glasses I had been waiting for, not the 2nd pair of lenses for the broken frame I'm wearing at the moment. (Hope you can follow me).

I left work an our early and drove off to Mülheim. Just to learn that it was only one set of lenses that had arrived. DAMN. Looks like I have to wait one more week until the other glasses arrive. Because only then I can hand over my current ones, so that they can put in the new set of lenses and fix the damn thing.

Sigh. At least tomorrow is the last working day of the week for me, I'm off on Friday, YAY, which means only one more day staring at a monitor for 8 hours. It's seriously NO fun at the moment.

Dear people: if you have to wear glasses, please make sure you have spares! It's IDIOTIC to go without spares. Even it it's just cheap ones. If bad comes to worse you don't want to be without your glasses or look through broken ones. While I can at least see halfway through the broken ones, it's extremely exhausting for my eyes, so...
